Samantha Majak
Samantha Majak, Outreach Coordinator
In September 2004, Ms. Samantha Majak joined Westbridge Academy as a certified School Social Worker and Clinical Team member. Since that time, she has provided therapeutic services and support to students and their families. Ms. Majak has shared in many success stories, including students graduating from high school, family reunifications and most notably, students returning prepared to excel in their district schools.
She has seen firsthand that teaching students how to make good choices, having them take responsibility for themselves and creating individual goals directly connects to an improvement in academics. Ms. Majak’s personal and professional goal is to help build relationships and trust with families and students so that they can feel good about learning again and provide them with the support they need to be successful.
In addition to her responsibilities as counselor and case manager, Ms. Majak has accepted a new position as Outreach Coordinator. Now, it is her responsibility to raise awareness of school district personnel, families and community members regarding Westbridge Academy’s rich history in educating students with emotional and behavioral challenges as well as highlighting newly launched initiatives.
Ms. Majak is assisting the Director with the “intake process”, by helping child study team members and families determine how Westbridge Academy can be the right choice for their youngster. Children lose out on socialization and academics when they’re in a placement that does not best meet their needs. It is at this point in a child’s life where no time can be wasted. Ms. Majak explains, “It’s important for families and students to be comfortable and secure in the school environment.”
Ms. Majak began her social work career volunteering and interning in various settings including a Food Pantry, the Urban League, a middle school guidance department and a correctional facility.
Ms. Majak received her Masters of Social Work from the State University of New York at Albany. In addition she maintains her License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) in the State of New Jersey.
