Microscopic Magic: The Power of Incremental Success

Who Should Attend:

Teachers, special educators, child study teams, school directors, principals and therapists.

The Workshop:

In this session, participants will explore how significant others in the life of a child can use the empathetic connection to facilitate the student’s recognition of the power in them already. Too often, incremental gains go unremarked, unrewarded and unremembered yet, in reality, success rarely arrives with lightning bolts and trumpets blares. Professional educators, parents and others who work with students must be able to not only recognize, but help children to recognize the importance and value in these sometimes almost microscopic gains. In this session, participants will learn how to mark these gains in their own experiences, and how to help children see them as valuable in their own lives.

The Presenter:

Steve Heisler received his MA degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Rutgers University. He holds a BA degree in Theatre from SUNY/Buffalo and an MA degree in Creative Writing from CUNY/Queens.

Steve is a Leadership Principal for the School System Improvement Project at Rutgers and provides professional development for school administrators on how to employ new evaluative tools to foster teacher professional growth and increase student achievement. He has been a teacher, district and building level administrator in New York City and New Jersey.

Steve is also the author of the recently published book: The Missing Link: Teaching and Learning Critical Success Skills.
