Abraham Mathew joined Westbridge Academy (formerly Child Development Center) in 1997 and served as a Teacher’s Aide for over a year and then served as the Computer Teacher for 11½ years. Thereafter, Mr. Mathew entered administration and became the Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction for 4 years, thereafter served as the Assistant Principal for 5½ years, was named Principal in January 2020, and Assistant Director in July 2022.
Mr. Mathew joined the school as part of a co-op experience with Montclair State University. He received his undergraduate degree from Montclair State University in Psychology. This specialty area has guided his leadership and teaching approach, as he views his psychological underpinnings as the foundation of steering our youth into social/emotional and academic success. Mr. Mathew earned his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Kean University in 2010.
Mr. Mathew views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. He believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Westbridge Academy.
During his free time, Mr. Mathew enjoys working with technology and playing sports.
