Civics lessons came to life this fall when Westbridge Academy was transformed into a fully functioning polling place, complete with a teacher-made voting booth, ballot box, and all the excitement of a real election. This immersive experience allowed students to understand firsthand how the democratic process works and showed them the power of their own voices in shaping the community.
“We created an immersive learning environment in which students could learn about the democratic process, empowering them to become informed and engaged citizens. The future of our democracy will be in their hands one day, and voting is one of the most important rights they have as citizens.”
— Abraham Mathew, Assistant Director.
Students learned about citizenship, government, the electoral process, and the mechanics of voting, from registering and making informed choices to casting their votes and understanding the electoral outcomes.
