When students have difficulty paying attention for any period of time, they may wonder how other students do it, and what would happen if they can learn to focus. At Westbridge Academy, we believe that students should aspire to move beyond their current situation. The Dare to Dream Student Leadership Conference gives them this rare opportunity to see the possibilities.
Dare to Dream provides New Jersey high school students with the chance to learn self-determination skills and network with other students who have emotional and behavioral challenges. Students from Westbridge Academy take part in the conference, which includes workshops – many led by students – that help kids understand their own motivations, strengths and fears, how to set their own goals and advocate for themselves effectively. These are all essential skills that prepare students for post-secondary education.
The conference also gives students the opportunity to make presentations to their peers about their lives and the challenges they’ve overcome. Students emerge with a strong sense of who they are, increased confidence, as well as improved communication skills.
