On November 14 and 15, select students of Westbridge Academy were given a guided tour of The Jersey Explorer Children’s Museum in East Orange, NJ. The Museum is completely built and staffed by young people from the NJ Youth Corps. The Jersey Explorer Children’s Museum is filled with exciting and unique exhibits and learning experiences. Some of the popular exhibits for our students included the Stargazer, where students became a crew for a one hour journey across a distant galaxy. They became cadets and each were placed in one of five work stations, Diplomacy, Space Lab, Engineering, Communications and Medical. During the course of the trip they faced a series of adventures that are meant to challenge the crew.
Students also enjoyed taking a trip in the “Call 911” medical facility and learned how to perform proper technique for chest compressions while administering C.P.R. as well as the use of an ambu bag when delivering oxygen to an unconscious person.
