Westbridge Academy was one of many schools around the country that was invited to submit a proposal to the Partlow Insurance Best Practice Award series which solicited schools on their approach to promoting tolerance and acceptance of diversity, with the possibility to present a live webinar if the school was chosen as a finalist. Westbridge Academy was in fact selected as one of four finalists nationwide and presented our “Don’t Be a Zero, Be a Hero” initiative on March 25, 2014 to a national audience via a live webinar.
The initiative is embedded within our therapeutic environment, wherein crisis intervention is available at all times. We use common language which includes consistency of messages, clear expectations, modeling desirable behavior, and using vocabulary that facilitates more effective communication. We provide a seamless network of therapeutic support for our students.
